Fox Prop Addaptor???
« on: May 19, 2008, 05:11:26 PM »
 Hello Flyers

Im just starting to mount my Fox.35 to the engine mounts and i noticed
i need a prop adaptor to afix my three piece aluminum spinner.

So far i gathered some info on the net. The PSP 3 piece Prop-LOC-Adapter
with 10/32 tapped nose.

And there was the simple prop extenders at Brodak.

Can you guy's point me in the right direction for a prop adapter to recieve
a aluminum spinner.? n~
                                                            Thanks Bryan

Bryan,
Not too sure why you need the adapter. Is it clearance to the nose, or is it you need a longer length to fit on the spinner?

Bryan and Allan,

If the spinner is for a 3-blade prop, and/or has a front center bolt attachment instead of Goldberg-type snap-on or various other-brand 2 screws into a backplate as mounting, an adaptor nut is needed.

As Bryan suggests, such nut is tapped for the engine shaft at one end, and for the spinner mounting screw at the other - front - end. Spinners do look "cleaner" without the two screw access eyebrows we're so used to. Tru-Turn spinners are not cheap, but there may be a suitable adaptor available from them. Some of the older spinner mfrs may still offer nut and bolt parts for theirs.

Luck, Bryan!

Fox sells three different length prop shaft to spinner adapters that are threaded 1/4 X 28 shaft and 10 X 32 spinner attach screw.   They also sell two different length shaft extension setups.  I have several of all the above in my junk barrel

Yep sounds like one of the aluminum Great Planes spinners, have to purchase the adaptor separately. Not bad spinners if you need a little extra nose weight. Brodak aluminum spinners come with an adaptor for 1/4-28 prop shafts which is the most common.
