Title: Early Brodak 40
Post by: Paul Allen on November 04, 2009, 03:12:35 AM
Guy's
Does any one know if the first run of Brodak 40's had a different
looking muffler to the last version?
Thanks

According to the 'experts", the first run of B40s had a muffler with smaller diameter outlet than the later B40s.
Otherwise, the mufflers were/are the same.  My four B40s all have the same (later model) muffler.......

Cheers,
Jim

I agree with Jim. I have two B40's, one from the second run and one bought at some later date. I looked at both mufflers last night, and as far as I can tell, the output opening looks the same.

I also have a B25, and there the output is considerably smaller, even though the mounting is the same. I wonder if the B25 muffler is basically the same as the first run B40.

That is a little odd---I did pull out my 3 engines---"2nd" run B40, "newer" B40, and B25 (not first run, but purchased a few years ago), and the B25 muffler, while basically identical to the two B40 mufflers, has a much smaller diameter output opening than the B40 muffler. Maybe they decided the larger opening works better even with the B25???

Paul,

From your pix, it appears that your muffler doesn't match the one shown on the instruction sheet............???

Paul,
Yours certainly looks different in shape than mine---both of which are shaped like the one Willis showed.

I have a Brodak 40 that I purchased back in July,2003 going by the receipt ,and
the muffler is the same as the one on the instruction sheet,it had a bigger outlet
hole and was from the second batch that was made.
The 40 in the photo, I just purchased from E bay in Australia,NIB.
I just wondered if this was the muffler from the first batch?
When was the first Brodak made?
Thanks
