I have what looks to be a practically new Enya .45 #6001..second edition...it doesn't have the smooth head C/Line engine..put it on the stand with a clunk type tank...had a little trouble at first getting to to run continuously..it would hit everytime with a bump after a prime....was doing all the things I do for my older Enya .35's//they always come to life on about 2 1/2 turns out...this 45 had to be coaxed with somewhere around 5 turns out on the needle..then it kept trying to lean out..running about 22% castor ..10% nitro Ritche's Brew..Is something amiss here..been a long time..but this seems like an awfully rich setting ?

Maybe there is something in the spraybar, or maybe the spraybar needs to be rotated some. Then, too, a brand new engine may need to be a full turn richer than one that's been run-in.  D>K Steve

Well..I pulled the spraybar out..the hole was way over to one side of the venturi..so I guess it had the wrong spraybar installed..I rummaged around and found an extra S Tigre spraybar...slipped it in..the hole is in almost exactly in the center..might be off just a hair..but so much better than before...took engine back out to my tree mounted test stand...opened it up just around 2 turns out..prime..flick..and off to the races...Easy fix...don't know if its 100% correct, but it seems to like it so much better than before...

Love those old Enya engines......

Joe - one of the guys around here is using one and it sounds and performs very similar to an ST .46.
He's using an OS Max "clicker" type needle valve.

They seem to last forever and are very cheap at swap meets.

HI Joe

Just to expand on what Bob told you, The  Enya NVA that fits the engine is a clicker type also, however it doesn't matter what type it is if the holes don't match up. A ST , OS , PA , or Enya will work if they are sized correctly.
I will have the differant size ENYA NVAs  in stock shortly for these motors. But you will as you found out need to have the  sizes matched

Steve,,thanks a bunch..That was a very interesting read...

I have enjoyed the Enya .45 from way back..had one of the original 6001's with the smooth head....

Wish it was still around...that was the only engine I ever lost to a crash...and a hard lesson about flying on concrete circles...Melrose Park..circa 1973....Had the engine from several years ago.. They just don't wear out, but they can be destroyed...!

Are you using that 45 or it is a collectible..?

Joe...I'm not a collector. At least, I hope to use all the kewl stuff I acquire!

Confusing at the least...I found it very strange that the St .46 head would bolt on directly to the Enya..

Being an "old fart" who just used to like to fly fast planes and cavort around the sky..kinda like flying combat with yourself chasing imaginary bugs...I find a lot of this tech stuff in the way of just having fun....I guess in the dinosaur days there were tech gurus and the like, but for the most part, the group I flew with just liked to fly and have fun..Life was a lot simpler then....Did I say that or Bluebell...kinda the same thing...more fun to eat ice cream than agonize over how to or who makes it better...hmm....Sometimes I do drift..

The first #6001 with the smooth head..it was the same as the later #6001 except for the head...Is that correct...then came the #6002....

This is the first Enya I've ever owned, and I haven't run it yet! So I don't know nothin' about Enya's specifically. I was always skeered off by the Importer. I had enough agony with World Engines "support" for my (many) Super Tigres to last me for decades. Looks like we'll be good with Enya, finally! Yaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyy! 

It does seem strange that the heads would swap from a ST .46 onto an Enya .45, but remembering that these are Metric engines, bores and strokes are pretty standard. Bolt circles are likely to be even numbers. Considering that the bores may be within a few thou, the flange OD, could easily be similar, requiring the bolt circles to be similar. Since I have a new ST .46, I might have to take a gander at these pieces and see if I can duplicate Joe Supercool's tests.  y1 Steve

Steve, Pete Peterson ran a Enya 45 in his VOHM. Ran just like a Super Tigre 45 but I think with a lot more athority. Check with him. ~~> ~~> ~~>
