Title: Cub 14 Prop?

A friend is putting a OK Cub 14 in a Clown. I have a 8x5 on a OS Max 15 but I don’t think a cub would swing that size prop. What size would work? I'M thinking 7x6  or 7x5.

  8-5 is a bit much----I would go with the 7-5, you should have no trouble. Just don't expect a "world beater"

Willis I used a 8-4 on mine in a small Zilch. I agree it is a very weak motor. Many years ago I used a 9-4 on one in a RC Live Wire Trainer,about 1957. It did pull the thing but very slowly.

My ol Cub .14 seems to swing an 8 X 4 pretty well....... AP^ AP^

Seams like a 8x4 will be worth trying first.

When I was really getting into the sport in the mid 50s, I got one for a birthday present and built a Jr Ringmaster for it.

Many flights, lots of fun. Back then, I used mostly Power Props and probably an 8-4 on the Cub.

As I recall, the Cub .14 and .19 were just upsized .049s.  y1

  Alas, the crowd has spoken---be forwarned, I could swing a 20# sledge hammer all day when I was younger, I don't want to try it for 10 minutes today. This engine was produced in 1952, it is tired. Phil are you swinging that prop in the air or on the ground? The 8-4 will probably be fine, my question is for how long? Food for thought isn't it?

I guess it would all depend on the total package.  An 8" prop would have to be a "light" one IMHO.  That old Cub ain't a world beater HP wise as others have stated.  I *think* a 7" would be safest and not put too much strain on the Cub.
