Title: CS 36P engine
Post by: rich gorrill on September 16, 2013, 04:55:45 AM
Hi guys, crusin E-Bay and came across a sale on a CS 36P engine. Has anyone ever heard of these engines. It is brand new and looks pretty good. The box shows it is made in Japan. It is a control line motor with needle valve and venture. It also comes with a strange looking muffler, very long. Any info would be appreciated. I don't think I'll bid on it I am just curious if anyone has ever used this engine.

TIA,  Rich

Rich,

I had thought that CS engines were manufactured in China and that the first series of .049's

marketed by Brodak were made by CS.  I have no knowledge of their QC, however.  Let us know

how the engine works out for you should you purchase it.

Perhaps you're looking at a different CS 36P engine on eBay than I am, but both the box and the casting of the engine backplate clearly says "Made in China". Looks like another OS clone.

You are right, it does say made in China. Does anyone know if this was the only engine made in China?

That is a rough casting ... It looks like an OS FP knock off with more fins added.

Gentlemen,
CS has often been interpreted as Chinese S--t and to be frank the usual quality is such as to regard the engine as a kit of parts that need fixing. They do make the occasional good engine. I have an ED Hunter replica and that is excellent, however that doesn't often happen. Unless you are a good machinist, leave well alone, you can do without the hassle.

Regards,

Andrew.

Leave that one, what you need is an OS 35. There are still a few of these around as they crop up on ebay now and again, if you can find a good one.

Good luck,

Tim
