Title: Cool Power MV Fuel

Has anybody tried this fuel yet?  It is all synthetic and probably the most hated fuel in the stunt community but the Multi Viscosity thing has me curious.  Seems like it might be interesting.

I used up two gallons of the 15% from my r/c stash.I just sport fly but I don't recall any bad engine run problems. I have mostly modern OS engines. The fuel will clean out all the varnish build up from the caster oil in a few flights. I crashed a plane with an OS La .25 that broke the engine and was surprised to find absolutely no color ether on the piston or cylinder head.

I tried  to get information from the company but again got no response, I may buy some and do test on it, The last time I tested their  18% oil fuel  it had only 14% total oil in it. They also told me years ago that the 14% oil cool power was great for FOX 35 plain bearing motors,  so I would go slow in jumping over.
I have had several stunt flyers buy the cool power and add 8 ounces of castor to the fuel and used it in PA engines with good results, and added 10 ounces for ST 51 and 60s with OK results. Others have mixed Cool Power with 25% all castor Champion and ran ST 46 51 60s , Aero Tigers OSs with OK results

Somebody left a bottle of Cool Power at my house after a combat contest.  I found it to be excellent for rinsing fuel jugs.

Very funny Howard!  I know it doesn't work well as windshield washer fluid even though it looks a lot like RainX!

Actually I'm talking about the MultiViscosity (MV) stuff.  I don't know how long this has been out or if there would be any advantages for stunt.  My thinking is that castor is kind of a multi viscosity oil, maybe I'm off base on this theory, and that there might be some advantage to a multi viscosity synthetic.  Probably if the MV is a better lube, they might end up putting even less oil in the fuel.

Red Line synthetic 2 cycle racing go kart oil is probably similar to what Cool Power (not the MV) synthetic oil is.  Go on their site and they tell you not to break in go kart engines with this stuff because the rings won't seat.  So this is the age of the super lubricant.  I would think that you may get away with running less oil in an engine that sucks a lot of fuel since the fuel is coolant.

I am not an engine expert but I like to think about this stuff.  I'm sure Randy will find out the real deal.

Maybe slightly off topic, but the Morgan CL fuel that Fred Lewis was good enough to mix at our request
(Omega 10/22--50/50 castor/syn) has been used by many CLPA flyers in the southeast with no adverse reports.

Every flyer that I have talked to who has tried it has been pleased with the fuels performance. Personally, I can detect no difference when compared, back-to-back, to the runs I get with PM 10/22.  Usually, no NV adjustment needed.

Be advised, the fuel I am talking about is NOT r/c fuel.  It is labeled "CL Fuel, 10/22".

I guess I am the only stunt flier who will admit to running Cool Power and liking it.  Ran great in my RO-Jett 65. I started using it after a fresh rebuild, and after a year and a half running cool power it will still squeek when turned over. I have another Ro-jet 65 that was assembled from salvage parts. It does not run that well on cool power or anything else that i try to run in it.

Cool Power is quality stuff.  They make Go Kart fuel too.  Powermaster is quality stuff.  Cool Power is very consistent.  The Cool Power green all synthetic worked real well in my Evo 36 until I crashed it.  I took it apart and it looked like a new engine without any carbon buildup.  Most people around here think I'm crazy and like I said, it is the most hated fuel in the stunt community, but it was suggested to me by a very knowledgable guy.  I would always use what the tuner suggests in a custom engine.

Its good that Morgan will come out with specialized blends.  Hopefully the hobby shop will be able to get it.

Fred Lewis, at Morgan, told me he is advertising the CL blends in Stunt News. To my knowledge, some Hobby Shops in Alabama and Louisiana are stocking the CL blends. 

Morgan has mixed a Fox blend (10% nitro/29% all castor) as well as the 10/22 blend, all measured by volume, not by weight.

Jim ,I'm late responding, but I can attest that the C/L Morgan fuel is good fuel too. There are three fliers using it here in the Baton Rouge area with good results. They had no problems in transitioning from PM 10/22-50/50. Andy's Hobby Towne started stocking it before our Oct. contest. I will use it when I finish out my P/M fuel.

The image of an oil-covered windshield is much funnier.  I might sneak some into Dan Rutherford's windshield washer tank, but his washer is probably broke.

I shouldn't have dissed Cool Power.  I can see it being good for a RO-Jett .65; the best fuel I used with them had about 17-18% synthetic oil.

Personally I think this MV (multi viscosity) oil is just advertising hype because I see no advantage at all for an engine with a total loss oil system where basically no part of the engine needing lubrication is cold. It's different of course in a wet sump engine where the same oil is continually circulating through it because the oil then retains much the same viscosity from dead cold to hot. To my mind they'd be better off advertising an oil as being polarised (which castor is). Polarised simply means it's attracted to metal (like a magnet to iron) while unpolarised is like a magnet to aluminium, it doesn't want to stick.
