All I can think of is a few Super Tigres, but can't imagine them being called an OS Clone. Is this something on eBuy? If so, post the link or post a picture!  D>K Steve

That doesn't look etched. It looks like a sticker stuck on the case.

Yep, it appears to be another brand from the ASP/Magnum factory. I know they make various brands for other countries and major hobby distributors. There are some other factories from PRC making engines that are not as good as ASP/Magnum. I'm pretty happy with the way mine run, FWIW, both Magnum and ASP.  y1 Steve

Looks like a sanye 40 or 46. Sanye is the parent company to magnum, asp and a few others. Definitely not an os clone. Os doesn't use the pinch bolts like shown there.

Try this one:  INC 46,  made in Taiwan.  From Hobbyking, under ASP engines.  $68 bucks, it might be worth a try.  Pretty much the same size and weight as the LA 46.

Phil,

Exactly what does it weigh?

Have you ran one yet?

Results?

I looked at the Hobby King site.  The ASP engines look to be nicely made.  But, I wonder about the posted weight.  Is the weight of the tube muffler included?  The tube muffler supplied with the LA 46 weighs about 3 ounces.  The LA 46, without muffler, is about 9 ounces.

I Googled "ASP Engines" and looked at various sites.  Some show out of stock for all ASP engines.  Maybe they have been discontinued but some sites are not updated to show this.

On some RC forums it is claimed that the ASP engines are made in China and the quality is hit or miss.  Most complaints are about the carbs so that would not matter to CL fliers.  The general opinion is that they are OK engines but not up to the quality of OS or other brands.

Just Engines shows them on their website with a CL version available.  Sounds like they remove the carb and install a venturi.  Might be worth a try to contact them and see what they have as the website might not be up to date on this matter.

Magnum (from Hobby People in California) and ASP are pretty decent engines, with real ABC. There are a couple other "rebrands" that come out of the same factory, and I'd think they're all much the same. My Magnum XLS .36/Twister probably had around 20 gallons of fuel through it, and it still had excellent compression, and was still capable of long strings of 1-flip starts. There are several guys around the PNW that fly Magnum XL .53's (most are SSW reworks, I think), including Randy, Mark and Pat...those guys. The comment is that "It's a 10.5 oz Super Tigre .60...same props, same power", etc. But 10.5 oz AND a real ABC! That's awesome! The stock mufflers are generally not quite as big and heavy (or quiet) as the OS mufflers. That "cone of silence" in the recent OS mufflers...leave it in!!! If you need nose weight, try an OS muffler on your Magnum/ASP, and enjoy the near electric sound levels. Otherwise, check with Randy Smith for his CNC Tube mufflers. Not as light as a tongue muffler, but quieter and a more pleasant sound.

Remember that the weight spec is usually without muffler but with the throttle, which is typically 1 > 2 ounces. A Delrin venturi is almost nothing. FWIW, I always order the version that has the remote NV assy. They're very nice, and work good on trainers and combat applications.  H^^ Steve

I haven't got one.  It is double ball bearing.  Listed weight is 448gr. including muffler and carb.  That's about the same as an LA 46.  The muffler looks a little heavier, the carb a little heavier too, so its in the same range.  Probably about a half ounce heavier with two ball bearings.

If they kept a mild sport timing like the LA46 it should run much the same.

thisis the OS SF 46 .

dime a dozen , so why get a copy. Likely a high timed radio injun .
Posn. of the carb retaining screws probly gets Magnum et al out of copyright shithouse .

Theres a Magnum FS 40 clone , nobody wanted it , NEW , at $ 40 , here .

Radio Club swap meets should get you all manner of trash for $ 20 .

FPs are givaways - the Magnu, GP is a CLONE . but youd cut the ports or whatever they do .

The Royal and othe meaty 46s had a mild steel crank with a pressed in crankpin , so theyre no good for combat
unless you keep a hammer in the pitbox to straighten the crank when you deck it .  :##

The RC groups lassifieds gets any number of OS's over a month , even a few VFRs if your lucky, and quick .  >:(

From the Hobby King website, the weight is 448 gr. Muffler is 128 gr.  That would make it ~300 gr., set up with a needle valve and venturi.  The LA I have lying around with a CL setup is 260gr, the muffler about 85gr.  So it would be pretty much a drop in replacement.  Made in Taiwan, so the quality should be pretty good, although the latest ASP/Sanye engines I've seen have come a long way from just a few years ago.

I just ordered an INC .46 for 61.33 from the west coast whse.  Its $71.98 including shipping to VA.  It was about 6 bucks cheaper from west coast whse than the east coast.  Go figure.  Will report back when I receive it.  Will need to make a venturi and look at a lighter muffler.

I received 2 of the INC .46s today and 1 ASP .25. First time ordering from Hobby King, no problems and took 3 days std shipping to NC. I look foreward to running them as soon as the weather gets decent around here. Here are the weights of each. The INC .46 weighs 10.7 oz with out muffler and without the R/C carb and no glow plug. The R/C carb weighs 1.4 oz and the muffler weighs 3.5 oz. The ASP .25 weighs 7.5 oz with out carb muffler and glow plug. the muffler weighs 2.0 oz and the R/C carb weighs 0.7oz , the remote needle valve assembly weighs 0.3 oz.....Gene

Let us know, assuming your house doesn't get blown away.

If they have ball bearings, assume that they'll run more like the OS AX motors -- i.e., higher RPM than an LA.
