Where is the best place to buy Control Line engines?
Or to get parts venturies / Needle valves to convert R/C engines?

Readily available engines are mostly RC with a carb but most of the time the timing and power are just fine for most C/L use converting to venturi and good NVA
Combat, Stunt, Carrier
Not trying to be a wise ass as you read and post quite a bit here on SH so I assume you know most of what I noted above
IN the last 12 months are so many threads on SH about the loss of NEW IN BOX control line engines. In each thread are suggestions ranging from converting OS, and Hobby King engines, to sourcing Horizon Hobby Evolution .36 .40 .46 .60+ or type built RoJet, PA, Stalker engines
I got back into CL three years ago (or is it four) and have very few NIB engines .25 to .36/,40 sized but have amassed over 50 very good to near perfect good used engines from these forums and e-bay ( most of the 50 are Cox .049 .051 .09 .15 sized)
Just today I paid $40 for a near new (run but never flown) Fox .35....destined for the nose of a recent built RingMaster
Some of my e-bay OS FX .25 and LA 25s and my Fox .36 MK series get new NVAs and or venturies from Randy Smith, Erik Rule (RSM) and Lees Machine Shop... I also find good parts from e-bay Omni models and Shttrman
MECOA now sell a K&B .28 for $89 reported to be a good engine... and vendor here sells them also
I have had good luck with Norvel and the Hobby King ASP/Magnum china made knock off of mostly OS designs
Takes a bit of perseverance buy Ken Enya still makes damned good C/L engines and many used ones are on e-bay usually barley broken in and some sizes still have good repair parts availability from Shttrman and Omni

Need a combat screaming engine? Henry Nelson did a recent (2014) run of the N.36c and they are all (93) in private hands but occasionally found for sale

CL Contests, (look for the guy with a card table selling off his stuff)
CL Club Meetings, (buy raffle tickets)
RC Club Meetings/Flying Fields (ask the oldest flyers what they have for sale/trade)
MECA Swap Meets, (GOLD MINE),
Etc.
The best places to buy CL Venturi's:
Lee Machine Shop (extensive offering)
Ebay (seller name shtterman, and others)
The best places to buy CL NVA's:
RSM Distribution (Eric Rule)
Precision Aero (Randy Smith)
Tower Hobbies (OS brand)
Guys who will make a Venturi, install it and test your engine:

I have looked at all those places except Randy smith.. These suppliers have few options for C/L.. and often they are not in stock.. Hobby King in particular.. Tower seems to have best selection and stock..
I was just asking in case I missed some overlooked gold mine.. C/L is NOT what it was when I left the hobby years ago..

I was looking for a selection of .15 for Goodyear ( or whatever its called now), .35/.36 for stunt and old time combat .. and .40s for tradition Rat Race..

Thanks;.. These are new sources for me!.. I have already ordered from Lee Machine shop and Ebay.. About Lee's MS.. I could NOT give a better recommendation! Friendly fast service!!
I may be just missing the old days when the was a huge selection of C/L engines.. even at the local hobby shops.. I have converted a K&B .40 to a C/L engine.. but its just seems 'Half Fast' to me.. there is a hole where the exhaust baffle was.. and it sure does NOT feel like it ran as hard as my old K&B .40's made for C/L..
Do any of the guys fix old K&B rear rotor C/L engines?

Thank you Phil.. those are new sources to me also.. the only thing I generally used small engines for was R/C lite.. meaning flying a single to three channel Sterling Mini Mambo in the farm field.. with the new FAA mandates.. I am likely OUT of R/C for good.. hopefully NOT C/L also..

I have two O.S. 40's (RISE) that were used for Rat back in the day. On nitro they were in the 155 mph range. Too slow for C speed and too fast for playing around.

I didn't see any mention of ROJett engines so I'll mention them. Made by Dubb Jett of Jett engineering.
They are premium competition engines and fairly expensive but they are first class Stunt engines made in sizes from .40 to .76.

Stalker engines are available from Kaz Minato in Japan first class guy, Stunt flier, and great service!

When you say MECA swap meets where are they? I use to go to one in Columbus OH in the early 90s but I talked to a MECA guy recently an he said there are no shows anymore.

Light on specifications, and too small for stunt if I'm reading their numbering system correctly.
But kewl engines for sport free flight, and (given that I'm a total ignoramus in the field) team race.

If I understand it right, it is metric and in CC. The largest engine I see listed is a 1.5cc, which is about a .09. So yes, little engines.

Try a Rustler Merco Metamorph 40 from Ian Russel AKA Rustler on the forums.
Its a baffle top piston engine with a modern take and in production.

PAW still make radial ported diesels as does Oliver engines - both in England obviously.
