Tornado prop questions
« on: February 16, 2007, 06:52:47 PM »
I have a Tornado 9x6 three blade prop that I have some questions about. It's made of a silver/grey plastic, blades are pretty flexible. The part number is either 963T or 6162 (it's marked with both). Do I need to do any prep work (boil it or whatever) before flying? How do you balance a 3 blade prop? How do you balance a plastic prop - I'm assuming you don't sand the heavy blade like on a wooden prop. Would this prop be a good match for an OS 35S on a Chizler?

Thanks,
Ken

Ken,
The way I balance all my props now is use thin CA on the light side. Put one drop on at a time , smooth it out, works perfect and doesn't weaken the prop.

HI Ken,

One of the pictures in the construction article on the Chizler shows exactly that prop. ;D

I have seen pictures of several planes of the '60s with the silver Tornado 3 blade on them.
