Hi ,
Someday I wish to get into using carbon fiber propellers ...
What am I going to need to "tune" and balance these props ?
I'm sure a pitch gauge would be an asset , but I can't find any ready made gauge's .
Any suggestions ?
Thanks ,

Hi Rob
You would need a pitch gauge to tune and tweek any typr of props wood plastic or CF props, You can find a pitch gauge, they are just a little hard to get ahold of, I would suggest to put out an ad on Stunt hangar and other site wanting a pitch gauge, I will try to find one for you also

Hi Rob,
What can I add to Randy's words?? GET A PRATHER PITCH GAUGE! LOL!!!!
Only additions is to have a heat gun or source of HOT water, and a means of balancing them. I can now heat the props with a heat gun and rub the blades with my fingers to get them in pitch. Some people use an adjustable wrench to do this.

I'd also suggest a couple of Perma Grit Tungsten Carbide Hand files. One in fine grit, another in Coarse. You'll need these to sand, shape, finish, and balance your props. C/F is amazingly tough, and nearly impossible to sand with paper, except for fine finishing with 320/400 wet or dry.

I just did a search for Prather Products and found they've been bought out by another R/C boat outfit. I'm looking for the guy in Vanc. WA, who sells pylon racing stuff, and pitch gauges. RO-Jett apparently shelved their plan to build a high quality pitch gauge. The only alternative seems to be to D.I.Y. Hooptee units. D>K Steve
