Can caster oil from the pharmacy be used in fuel?

I know some use it but the Merco instruction sheet specifically warns against using medicinal castor several times.

Bob and Bryan,

SIG still sells "Bakers AA" in qts and gallons - gallons being better price per fl oz.

KLOTZ may still offer their racing castor, which they assert is refined (filtered?) beyond what they get as raw stock. Can't comment on pricing.

Castor oil is not a flammable, and is not a volatile liquid, so HAZMAT likely does not come into the picture.

AMSOIL might have a usable racing castor - their products apparently have street cred in auto/boat (people-sized) high-performance uses. 'net search on AMSOIL should find their catalog. They usually have local dealers you can find and buy from.

As with most anything, buying in larger quantities usually might find a better price. (Not in grocery stores - take a look if you doubt it...) So, depends on whether you are brewing up sizable batches of fuel from raw ingredients, or just 'sweetening' a commercial glow fuel blend.

I live in Australia so I have easy access to Castrol M which is arguably THE best of all castors for model engines and only $8 a litre :). It's a shame it's not available in America.

Castrol M seems to be the best, its freely available here in England, its used in speedway bikes, but apart from that and model aircraft engines, I don't know what else its used for? ??? Silkolene used to produce a Castor called Castorene! I think it was the same as Castrol R (racing) it worked ok but stained everything yellow, including your hands ;D

As it should be because the Castrol company was formed in England around 100 years ago and took its name from its first product, CASToROiL :D.

Klotz Benol is still available.  Lists for about $7.50 a bottle, if you hit John Klotz at a show, he sells then at buy 2 get one free.

how many liters do I buy to get it at that rate? my local retailer tries to slug me $90 for a 5L plastic jug. does anyone know how much castrol wholesale charge for a box delivered?

That's a bit expensive! Shop around, look on the internet, motorcycle race dealers seem to be the cheapest here in the UK. You really only need to buy it by the litre for our use. If you have a speedway track nearby they might sell you some?

I bought a case of it from Rich's Brew in Texas.

I have a couple of SEALED gallons left from an F2D fuel mixing project.  I offer to sell two gallons at $25 per gallon, with delivery at Rouge Park, Centennial Park, or Brodak Field.
