Title: can you use paint that is not fuel proof if you use 0% nitro fuel?

Can you do this? Or will the methanol dissolve certain paints as well?

Hi.
Methanol is chemically very aggressive and can dissolve several binders used to formulate paints.  Nitrate based coatings (for example) have no chance to resist, so consider this factor carefully before choosing the paint.

thank you for the reply. This lets me know that there is no real advantage for this fuel.

Let me add something to this question.
The absolute clear (PP, purissima, analytical quality) nitromethan is not as aggressive as methanol. However, it is usually 5-10 times more  expensive than technical quality, which used  as fuel for model engines, dragsters, etc.
The impurity is some minimal acidic residue,  which can be corrosive for copper, brass and aluminum alloys, and some paints.
