When I am on places like ebay and RCU looking for engines I have a hard time figuring out if something will make a good C/L engine.
Most of us know about Fox's and McCoy RH and K&B GH. Of course you have the Ro-Jets and PA and the like that are labeled a C/L engines. And we know that 4 strokers are being used but unless you know what you are doing, not real easy to setup.
I talking about 2 cycle RC engines that you can pull the carb off slap on a venturi and go fly. I don't know my ABC's when it comes to engines. So I thought if we could compile a list here that would be a nice to have.
I did hear that way back in the day that OS had a 40 size engine that was real good. FSR?
Anyway if you guys will post'm, I will compile a list.
Thanks! H^^

OS .35 FP
OS .40 FP ( two versions, early better than later)
OS LA .46 ( plug and play, great for classic airplanes and anything up to 620 sq inches or 55ounces)
OS .40 VF on pipe
OS .46 VF on pipe

For smaller planes, OS LA 25 and FP 20. There's a specific muffler you want to use with the FP 20 (Google "brett buck tuneup"). There's an FP 25, but what little I've heard about it is negative.

Any of the modern Merco's seem good -
Rustler Merco 40
R&B 51
Rustler Merco 61
Or the mighty R&B 75
These are task specific 'stunt' engines and are about as 'plug and play' as one could wish for.
Second hand, a good condition red/orange head Merco 35 is good also.

If weight isn't of concern, the Magnum XL series makes a good runner in the .25 size. This is a ball bearing .25 with plenty of power. Ken

Enya 45 model 6001, two versions, the first with twin rings then the second with a single ring. The later model 6002 was not as good for stunt mainly from timing changes to suit power mad RC guys :).

Now your done it with your reversion to past mate, I am just waiting for the likes of G21/46's to come along etc, etc.
May as well chuck in the MVVS 51, almost impossible to obtain but has one of the best runs that I have ever seen.

Brodak .25 and .40.

I like the Tower 40 and the K&B 4011.

Brodak 40 meets my needs- be sure to break it in and drill out a few extra holes in the rear of OEM muffler. Powermaster 10-22 GMA with a sonictronic R/C idel bar plug ot similar.

McCoy 40 Red Head. Super nice stunt run with a traditional 2-4 break. Mostly runs in a 4. Likes a big prop load and 5% nitro fuel.
