Can I convert a Fox .29 to a .36?

   Hi All:

   Will a Fox .35 Stunt p&c fit into a Fox .29 stunt crankcase?

    I forgot to measure the o.d. of my .29 sleeve but I did notice that it was a bit thicker than a .35 sleeve.  The only difference between the two that I can remember was the the bore on the .29 was .738 for the .29 vs. .800 for the .35.  I bet that Duke used the same case for both engines.

    Any thoughts about this question?

Most of the time Yes But make sur the 35 head bolt holes line up. Some do some do not

     Hi Edd:

     I should have posted .35 in lieu of .36  I was speaking of using the p&C from a Fox .35 Stunt to replace the p&c in the .29 Stunt.  I think that there are many of these Fox parts that will interchange!

Frank,
The Fox 29 is the same case, crank as the 35. The 35 has a thinner cylinder this makes it vulnerable to distortion. I think for the ships in the size range of the 35 that the 29 with the right prop will do as good as the 35 and be a bit more consistent. Don Still used the Fox 29 in the original Stuka and it did just fine.

Hi Dennis,
And when Don got to his '59 version that Ambroid kitted (and Don flew at the World's) he used the Fox .25, the one built on the Fox .19 case.

    Hi Dennis:

    The Fox .25 three screw backplate model does indeed have more power than the Fox .35 Stunt plus it is about a 1.5 oz. lighter.  I bet that Don Still new this! The Fox .25 has served me very well in the past on Goldberg stunters!

Hi Frank,

I'm the one with the blurb about the .25, not "Dennis"! LMBO!!!!!!  No Problem!

I too have used the Fox .25 quite a bit.  It is an excellent stunt engine for the 4-2 run.  I have several ('54 and '5  7 versions) pus a NIB example from late in the last run.  I may never get around to breaking it in since the others are still very strong! :)  Like you, it is great for the Sterling, Goldberg and Top Flite traditional "profiles"!
