Title: Brodak 40 mufflers
Post by: Clint Ormosen on March 29, 2008, 10:00:28 PM
It seems there is a hole in the muffler market for the Brodak 40. I can't find a good, lightweight tube muffler. It's either the stocker or nothing. There is a chip muffler available, but I like the sound of tube mufflers better. Scott Dinger can custom fab one, but I think there are enough Brodaks out there now that a good tube muffler might sell.

I'd buy a couple.

I had the same problem last year.  I ended up using a Big Art tube muffler that fits an OS Max 40-45 FSR and an HP 40.  It's about 4/10s of an ounce lighter, and I think looks a little better.  I had to cut my allen wrench down a little to get it to fit between the tube and mounting flange when tightening up the bolts.  I don't know if Randy Smith has one of his CNC mufflers that will fit.  I know his mufflers only weigh about an ounce but you will need one with ears on it that will bolt on the exhaust side of the engine.

Hope this helps.

I think Mac's pipes has made a couple of his disign that fit the B40. I know they have been approched on the subject a couple of times by local flyers in the area. (Sacramento CA) I have several that I use on my other engines and they work great.
