Title: Brodak 40 ?

Are the new production Brodak 40’s a good motor? I’ve read about early production problems.

I'm  Brodak 40 fan.  Every one I've seen ran great.  Light, powerful, nice break.

I’ve had success with Brodak 40 in OTS models in the 35 oz weight range. 

Their Achilles heel is the connecting rod which is bushed on one side only, at least the ones I own.  They eventually wear out as the rod hole wears.   It’s difficult, but not impossible, to rework the rod to add a bushing.

The Brodak 40 is a great engine, very light for its size. I run one in a 51 oz Geskie Nobler, lots of power.

Have one in my Arf nobler and one in an arf a vector. 10.5x4.5 apc prop is the best in my honest opinion. Sig 10 % 1/2 n 1/2 fuel. Ditto the rod bushing though. Wrist pin hole is not bushed in my engine and you can’t just buy a rod as far as I know.
