Brodak 25
« on: June 27, 2007, 03:03:19 PM »
Just got one today and need some hand holding so as not to ruin a 100$ investment. the insrtuctions are ok, but do leave some questions.
1. best glow plug to use
2. best fuel and best online supplier
3. best breakin method
4. best needle setting range to start with
5. have a std. 3oz. Brodak wedge tank...ok to run with no pressure?
6. best prop size...will wood and synthetic produce approx. same results

Thanks in advance, guys. I am strictly a sport flyer, so the really technical answers arent going to be of much value to me!....Bob

Hi Bob,

I have had good results with the Thunderbolt plug, Powermaster 10/22 fuel with 9x5 props.  I used the APC 9x5 to get CG where I wanted it on the Flite Streak ARF.

I found that 3 oz. tank gave close to 9 minutes of run time with rpm at about 9200.  I used uniflow metal tank, no muffler pressure, great runs.

As far as break-in, I followed the instructions EXACTLY and have had no problems, with the B25 or B40.
My break-in instructions said to do lots of short runs, with cool-down between runs.  I think I did 18 or 20 two minute runs with five minutes or a little longer between runs.  If I remember correctly, I used a wood 9x4 prop with a wet two cycle run for the break-in.

Don't remember needle setting, but would suggest 3 or 4 turns open to begin with, adjust as needed after starting.
