Hi All:
Yesterday, I got to fly my "new" Bridal .25 powered Super clown. This engine is very impressive! It was very fast with an 8X6 prop running at a rich two cycle! It was very easy to start and needle.
My question is this: what kits will work well with this engine. I think that it has as much power as the Fox .35 Stunt so can I just swap the Bridal into planes that have the Fox .35 engines installed?
New kits that I have that the Brodak may be a good candidate for are:
Midwest P 51 48" w.s.
Sterling P 51 Sig foam winged P 51
Sterling Hellcat
CG Buster
CG Shoestring
Perhaps the CG Buster would be a great combination.
I do not know how large of an airplane the B 25 will pull. Any suggestions?
Tia,
Frank

Hi Frank,
What is a bridal .25? Is it some sort of Brodak twin cylinders married together? Or am I missing something?
Andrew.

Hi Andrew:
I will attempt to answer your question again. My spell checker changed brodak to bridal and I did no notice the change! Lol
Stay well,

Try marrying off the Brodak 25 to the Buster or Shoestring. The Sterling P-51 would be good too if you replace the stone kit wood.

I think the CG Buster and Shoestring are at the large end of the spectrum for the B-25 but would work. Better though would be the next size down...ie: SkyRay, Shark 402, FliteStreak, Sakitumi. 8)

Try a Brodak VAMPIRE.

A Goldberg Shoestring weighs 28-30 ounces with a slightly smaller wingspan than a Skyray. My SS is a wonderfully snappy sport flyer and a bit too fast with a Thunder Tiger Pro BB 25. A PB 25 like the Brodak should be perfect for it. The Brodak Shoestring might be a little lighter. They're great looking planes too, except to me, the traditional colors kind of suck. I went red and black to fix that.

I have run a stock B-25 in a 26 ounce Shark 402 which is smaller and lighter than most Shoestrings. It was seriously lacking in power hence the recommendation. Cure was an FP-25. If sport flying and lazy type maneuvers are your forte, it will be adequate. If you go with a B-25, ues a larger venturi, it will help. 8)

That's good to know about the B .25, thanks for clearing that up.

The Goldberg, now Brodak, Shoestring has a 42" span and wing area of 395 sq in. Mine seem to finish at 28–29 oz and fly fine with an FP 20.

Hi Frank,
I believe the Super Clown should be a great model for the Brodak .25. I *think* you need a prop change. 6" pitch running a wet 2 will be fast on the right size model. Think 9-4 for the Super Clown.
Of the other kits you list, the Sterling P-51, Sterling Hellcat, CG (or Brodak) Shoestring and CG (or Brodak) Buster will be very good with the right prop. Again, I do not *think* any of the modern engines need 6" of pitch running a wet 2 unless you are flying in a Combat class.
