Big Art Engine Question...
« on: May 19, 2014, 03:08:37 PM »
I am fortunate enough to have acquired a "Big Art" OS 35 engine, with muffler. The engine is engraved with 'Big Art' on the cylinder case, and what appears to be 'Dryer' on the side of the head.

Does someone know what kind of jewel I have, here? I do not know the age of this engine, but it looks really clean, and barely used.

I am accustomed to using straight castor fuel in some of my -other brand- engines, and wonder what fuel would be good to start with; props, RPM, and so forth. Currently, the engine is mounted in an All American Senior.

This combo might make it to Topeka, this weekend, if I get some good results with it, this week!

Hanging on for some good information and advice.

Thanks, Doug.
I will build it. It's gonna be really difficult to find me with an ARF. I know every bit of my airplane!

Dryer is probably the name of the flier Big Art set it up for originally. I will assume it is an S-35 rather than an FP-35. My S-35s run well on 10% nitro, 25% castor, 3% synthetic and RSM 10x6 props. It may be worth a PM to Dennis Adamisin (Big Art's son) for advice on how they ran them back in the day.  8)

Ah ha! That's not too far off of what I expected, and catching up with Dennis is a good idea. Now, how to catch Dennis...? Thanks!
