Title: Austro-Webra versus Webra ?
Post by: Robin_Holden on March 17, 2009, 02:32:04 AM
Greetings all from S.W.France .

Please help me with a 'memory' problem  ! When I was a teenager I'm sure we could buy in Britain Austro -Webra engines.
I seem to recall 40's and 61's with finning all the way down the cylinder.
There were front and rear induction versions as well.
Now , am I having a senior moment or were these engines maybe early HP engines made under licence ?

I would appreciate some information from the 'engine intellectuals ' out there .

Much obliged ,

Robin [ ex-pat Brit in the Charente full of ex-pat Brits ]

Sorry Robin,

Think you are suffering from a senior moment or a surfeit of French wine. Webra are still going strong as far as I know. West engines are in fact highly modified Webras. HP are out of business, well they gave up making model engines, although they still make guns I believe. Mecoa have purchased the rights to the HP engine range. They may in fact still offer spares or even engines, check their web site.

Best regards,

Andrew
