Are There Mufflers For An Old Fox .15 Engine
« on: April 09, 2014, 08:05:12 PM »
Hey there Control Liners,
Got the old Ringmaster JR. with and old Fox .15 (1958-60 maybe) and it never had a muffler
Got it cranked up today but it is LOUD)))))
Searching for muffler options.
Are there strap on mufflers for an old Fox like this?
Been searching but not having any results on Google. Contacted Leonard Neumman and he has nothing that will work.
Thanks for any info.

Perhaps an old Du bro strap on Muffler for 15-19 range.  You will have to watch EBay for one or swap meets.  Other route is to make your own.  Someone posted how he was making mufflers for McCoys & Veco 35s from 1/16 & 1/32 aluminum.  This technique would certainly work if you have the time & patience.  I never thought they were that loud but I compare them to an un-muffled Fox 35.

I might only offer that these old engines don't always take well to mufflers,  not liking the back pressure and added heat build up.  Also they rob a certain amount of power from the motor.  I don't think that old Fox .15 would have much power to spare.  If you must use mufflers you might do better to find something newer/better.  Having a Fox .15 this vintage that even runs is saying something.  I'd prefer an Enya .15.  I bought my grandson a Brodak .15.  Haven't run it much yet but looks promising.

I was online trying to find an old Du-Bro....nothing yet. I'll keep at it. Thanks.

I want to feel it flying again but like you say a newer engine will have more power. Those Enyas are nice)))))
Have to find out how those Brodack .15s run.

Shug,

Yes Enyas are nice, spare parts (if needed) are readily available from Enya.

The Brodak 15's are really nice to use. Let em rev on a 7X4 and feed em nitro and they go like stink, OR put on an 8X4 with 5% nitro and they are pussycats. But still plenty of power for a Peacemaker sized stunter.
