Title: Almost stripped Venturi screw
Post by: James Holford on August 05, 2016, 10:38:50 PM
Trying to take off the RC carb on my .25FP and one screw is one for dear life.. other came off with ease.

But this ome screw will not budge and is starting to strip..

Any idea or solutions to removing this screw without harming the engine?

I would wonder if the heat generated by the Dremel Danger Disc may have had much to do with loosening the screw.  f~ Steve

Ahh maybe... had to put some effort in it to break loose.

I have always needed to heat those up.

Usually,  I grab them with some needle nose vice grips and break them loose first.
Also, Google search JIS screw drivers. They won't strip with JIS because they're not Phillips. It's worth the investment, and a JIS screw driver can be had cheap.

Did you get an os venturi and nva already?

Cutting a slot for a standard screwdriver can also be easily done with a swiss file.

I was looking for JIS bits to fit a standard interchangeable bit driver and found these at Motion Pro, a motorcycle repair website:

$3.50 for a 2-pack of JIS bits. No more stripped screws.
