I finally remembered to squirt 1 oz of Aero 1 into my fresh jug of fuel today, after carrying the bottle around for a year or more. Pete Peterson said it's good stuff, and that he had to open the NV a little when using it. Increased viscosity or reduced burnables, I guess. Pete Ferguson was watching as I injected the stuff into the top of my fueling rig, and noticed that it sank straight to the bottom. I shook the jug to mix it up, then hooked the fueling hose onto the overflow fitting, and pumped awhile, to help mix it better. See the picture to see what I mean.
So, did the engine run differently? Well...maybe. One thing I always do is to pinch off the muffler pressure hose to speed up the engine warm-up, before I try to set the NV for launch rpm. It did seem to increase the peak rpm slightly, during this procedure, seeing 10,200+ instead of 10,100 or less. The engine ran fine, but it always does. Magnum XLS .36. In flight, it ran great, maybe with a little more power. What amazed me, was that my rounds were rounder, squares were squarer, and the pullout from the Hourglass lower and flatter than ever before.... LL~ LL~ LL~ Steve
Edit: F'got the derned picture...

WOW, Thats so cool "talent" in a bottle. Did you get the 20 points per bottle or the 40 points per bottle. Way nice!!!

That, or it was the Gatorade I was a sippin'...it was really hot here, maybe 60F. in the sun...but there was not much of that around to be feared. :## Steve

Hi Steve,
I have been using Randy's "Snake Oil" as long as I can remember it being out, or at least from th efirst time I heard about it. I can say one thing, I do believe it sure does help on the "wear" of all the engines I run. Nothing "empirical" in what I say, but the engines show no real wear.

Hi Steve,
If you were talking about the effects of a medication, the docs would call your results "placebo effect". If it works, it works! #^ I like the stuff too and have been using it for a long time. Can't say my squares are any squarer though. Maybe I'm not using enough. LL~
Cheers,

Hmmmmm you guys should ask Bruce Perry about Aero-1 :-) #^

Are you sayin' Aero 1 had something to do with Donny and Brock's appearance on the stunt scene? LL~ Steve
PS: I saw as much as 10,500 on the tach during the pre-flight warm-up pressure pinching sequence yesterday. Jeepers, it hasn't run that strong in a long time...

T.M.I ... y1 Steve
PS: OBTW, I saw as high as 10,500 rpm on the Magnum .36 on Monday. An Xtra 300 r's for being a Holiday? Or is the Aero 1 cleaning off some draggy smudges on the innards?

I don't know about all that.....But I do know eveytime I wash my truck it's twice as fast !!!!!!!

It was a few years ago that I tried a semi-scientific test regarding the effectiveness of Aero 1. Took a good running (Randy tuned) FP40 and ran it in a plane with some fresh Powermaster GMA10/22. Don't remember all the numbers but it ran well, did the pattern. Mixed in 1.5 ounces of Aero 1. Repeated the flight. Observed a 200 RPM increase on ground with the same NV setting, engine ran noticeably smoother and steadier. I also believe that it has saved more than a few of my engines from being damanged due to (ugh!) unplanned lean runs. Aero 1 oil : Don't leave the ground without it! 8)

Hmmmm. Went flying again today (only Peterson was around, hurt pinkie and all). Cloudy, muggy, high humidity, but warm...until the sun burned through, and even after that. The engine was back down to 10,100rpm during the pressure pinching drill, until the sun came out and dried out the air. More nitro would have been the right call, but I don't have some.
The 11 x 4.5 TT Cyclone is quite a bit of load for the XLS .36, it appears. I need to try an APC 11-4. The MAS Scimitar 11-4 and TF Power Point 11-4 have been tried and rejected. They needed to launch at about 10,400, didn't pull as well in the overhead stuff. Just sayin'.... n~ Steve
