OS LA .40 CL, Four questions?
« on: May 10, 2012, 08:59:45 AM »
I have this NIB OS LA .40 for The New American.

1) It appears as though I have to drill the needle valve hole to fit a common needle valve bar assembly, as the bar is a bit larger in diameter. Correct?

2) What assembly are they using? I have a few.

3) Tongue mufflers, what are they using?

4) Most common one?

Someone told me Aero Products ruled!

Thanks,

Charles

What is a "common" needle assembly?  My OS40LA uses an OS 25 needle assembly and a tongue muffler from "Big Art".My usual fuel is SIG 10-10-10.  Prop 11-5 Y&O.   That seems to work.

Floyd,

I probably should have said "most common brand."

What if I said "most common prop?"

Did you drill anything out?  Who is "Big Art." Got a photo of the muffler?

You can read about Big Art there: http://www.modelaircraft.org/files/AdamisinArthur.pdf

Big Art is the Chuck Norris of Control Line.

You have to drill out the case of the LA 40 if you want to use a Super Tigre type needle valve. If you use an OS needle valve of recent vintage, then no drilling is needed.

If you want to see some muffler pictures then go to the Brodak web site and search for "tongue".

I think I was using an APC 11-5 on mine.

I can't answer for Floyd, but I'd reply "most common prop where?"

Use a spraybar that fits.  Don't hack up your crankcase.

The problem with electric is that once you get the smoke generator and sound system installed, the plane is too heavy.

I just put one together with the new enya pro nv and a derlin venture. you have to shim the nv to get it in the center and drill out the hole a little bigger. I used the info from pampa on total area. It is one of the best engines I have. Im using a 10-5.
