     Hi Bob:

I took a chance and purchased the set from E Bay.

Do you know anything about the quality of this engine?

      Stay well,

       Frank

If it is a Series 71 engine it should fit. Not sure there was any difference in the P/L between the BB and plain-bearing engines. I think right in that timeframe the Veco and K&B used the same parts?

They are decent engines if you get one that hasn't been abused or worn out. They aren't going to have the surface finish of a modern OS, etc. but for their era they were fine. And, it's old metallurgy. More oil, always some castor, be sure your tank setup is bulletproof and won't cause meltdowns,,,,  All the usual stuff.

the K&B 19 and Veco 19 were 2 diff motors  the K&B 19 was an over achieving bushing green head  ,there was 2 versions of the piston and sleeve, the original sleeve ports had square edges  .the later ones has rounded ports and had much less compression.. Bill Wisnewski turned 154 mph at the nats in A speed with one just before they went to 15's the same year the winning B speed was 153mph by Arnie Nelson with a combo of a McCoy case and K&B 29R Silver head guts with a BB front end

Fox put a lot of effort into trying to beat the K&B  and never did.it is hard to believe it went that fast but i saw the flight.today u could put the whole motor in side of a rossi 15.  Blast from the past RAD

the newest K&B 19's were a Scherle BB 3.5 with a shorter stroke making them 3.25 for Free Flight

Yup! Pictures! There's likely some confusion since K&B took over the Veco .19bb followed up by RJL taking over the K&B (and K&B/Cox Conquest .15), dropping the plain bearing Green Head engines. If the fins are integral with the cylinder, it's for a Green Head. I never owned any K&B Green Head engines and I'm happy with that. And have no idea when K&B took over the Veco .19bb and dropped the GH stuff. I had some K&B Series '61 .35's that were a POS, so....

I did have an early Veco .29 that was made by K&B under contract, but it "blowed up" due to the cast aluminum conrod. Later, I found out that K&B had changed their own .29/.31/.35 to a steel rod, but kept putting out the Veco .29 with the aluminum rod that broke easily and regularly. These were prior to the GH series.  '' Steve

PS: It may or may not help to look for PN for the RJL/K&B/Veco .19bb on RJL's website. There's a chance that they carried over the part numbering system from K&B.
