Title: .46LA Blue vs. Silver engines.
Post by: Perry Rose on July 28, 2020, 10:35:19 AM
I have a blue .46 and it runs different than my 5 other silver LA .46's. Uses more fuel. All engines are box stock with a .156 dia. spray bar.  On the boxes that the silver engines came in is the marking "Made in China". Does anyone have a box that a blue engine came in and does it say "Made in Japan" or "Made in China"?

This isn't really a reply to what you're asking, but, I just checked 5 boxes. 4 of them say "Made in Japan," and one says, "Made in China." All engines were silver.

Don't know what the differences are but, I have quite a few blue engines that run fine , i have a couple of silver ones that give me issues running thru a full tank like leaning or not as much power. I just set up two new profile winter builds with the same exact tank set up, the blue engine gives me perfect runs every time, the silver engine gives me grief. Same glow plugs, same fuel, same muffler, same venturi and needle. Maybe the silver ones need more break in ?  n~

My 46 is blue . matches the plane . i will check the box . If it says china , i'll have words to say , about that . ( was R.C., rear nylon backplate NVA mount. pretrty sure it Japan , but cant recall ever looking for that )

Ho Kay ,

instructiones have copyright 1997 . BOX has 13370 made in japan , on BOTH sides ! .for a blue R/C with 3030 muffler , nva was on plastic backplate outrigger , which cut off cleanly .

incidently , had a spare nip FP 40 crank , the fancy machined one . the LA had the nasty stamped one . three guesses . The timing is now closing 5 degrees earlier . Seems ( on two flights )
to be with it , on the 4-2-4 thing , on a 12 x 5 T F & long std finned Big Art FP 40 muffler . Id had a nylon intake , .280 ? dropped it in with a ST spray bar .

Hello
Never thought there would be a difference in LA46's . I wonder if the last ones made were silver and made in China and perhaps the dies were left with Sanye who are now closed as they made all the ASP, Sc, Evolution and other Chinese brands.   I presume the LA15 and LA25 that are still being produced are made in Japan and available from R/C Japan (the LA15 in a C/L version too)
Regards Gerald

If you are old enough you will see the irony of a Japanese company having their manufacturing in China.
