OS Max FS30

I have a chance to purchase a OS 30 Four stroke for a good price. Is this engine suitable for CL? If so what size of plane would it work with?

Be patience, hopefully Bob Zambelli will respond he has one in a classic ship and claims it's one of his favorites. Also I think Proparc may have some experience with this motor. Anyway it's the general consensus among the 4 stroke lovers this is a sweetheart of a motor for stunt.

He talks about that engine with mucho praise.........

IIRC, Willis Swindell has used one quite a bit, too. ???

I shall be most interested to read conclusions on this topic. I reckon a couple of small O.S. 4str. would be great in an RSM Sheeks Mossie. I've heard the 30 is a completely different engine (user-wise) from the 26. The 26 is a slugger, (good for stunt?) and the 30 is (relatively speaking) a screamer? not so good?

Gentlemen - sorry for not responding sooner but I do not have internet at home. Or cable TV for that matter!! Come to think of it, I don't even have a home phone.  LL~
Totally irrelevant so I'll get to the point.  #^

Most of my 4-stroke experience is with the smaller engines.  y1 y1 y1
OS .20, Surpass .26 (2), SAITO .30 (4).

Regarding the Surpass .30 - I have never owned or flown one so I can only relate feedback from others.
I have not heard one positive comment about the Surpass .30. Every person I know who has one is disappointed with what some have called dismal power.  HB~> HB~>

The Surpass .26 is GREAT - in fact, after watching my friend fly his Surpass .30, I'd wager that the .26 makes substantially more power.

There is also a non-Surpass .20 that is a fine little sport engine. But, it's been out of production for a while.

Regarding my favorite - it's still the SAITO .30. That little gem continues to amaze me.
Ask anyone who has seen my Argus fly and they'll confirm its ability.  #^ #^ #^

ps - is anyone curious about the next size up in 4S power? I have good information on a few .40s.

Oh well. The last post came one day to late. Just bought it. Anyway the price was right $100.00 Cdn. or $85.00 US. It is typical OS quality and hopefully it will suit my needs. I'll just have to wait and see. Thanks for all the replies.

Are all O.S. 26's Surpass? Or is there a "standard" one as well?
Of course, for something like the RSM Mossie, engine weight is also a factor.

Rustler - as far as I know, ALL the OS .26 4S engines were Surpass.

The 4S .20 was not.
