Tube muffler rework

I need to rotate the exit piece on a tube muffler. I believe that it is probably held on by JB Weld or a similar product.  I think that I saw a thread here once that mentioned heating the casting and thereby softening the epoxy, allowing it to be re positioned.  Does anyone else recall this thread? My searches have come up with everything except the answer.  Thanks.

Yes.  JB Weld is tough stuff, but it can be softened/weakened with heat.  I've added metal "stingers" to the end of tube mufflers using JB Weld, and it holds fine.  It is less successful used close to the engine, where temps are much higher.  So, I suggest putting the muffler in a hot oven, and then twist it or pry it apart.
