"Saving a Merco 35".
« on: February 09, 2015, 06:00:14 AM »
In my post about the comparison of Merco/OS Max/Super Tiger 35s, I mentioned how well the Merco ran.

At first, I thought the Merco was new but turns out it had very little compression - probably would have been difficult to start.
Figuring I had nothing to lose, I disassembled it and heated the piston to red hot with a Bernz-O-Matic.
I let it cool down to room temperature.
After reassembling it, the compression was much better and that's when I ran it.
How long will it last? I don't have a clue but I'll put it in something and see how it holds up.
