No Visa Cards for Now
« on: February 24, 2015, 02:35:24 PM »
Due to some problems with the Visa acceptance unit at the bank and their outrageous rules($350 bucks)  I won't accept credit cards until I can get a better payment processor.  Pay Pal is fine though, and of course checks or money orders.

Well after the fact, I was informed that unless a transaction made through error(their user unfriendly phone system and totally useless customer "care") they keep the 5% plus fees regardless from the transaction unless it is voided the same day.  The phone system doesn't allow doing a void transaction and merchant "service" doesn't answer the phones in a timely manner, making it impossible to follow the rule.

Please check with me if you have any questions.

One of my professional friends had a company that made those point-of-sale credit card swiping machines, back when they were still brand-new whiz-bang technology.  He gave me the run down on just how unpleasant it can be to be a small credit card vendor.

Which has made me avoid it, at least so far.  Checks still work...

The problem with electric is that once you get the smoke generator and sound system installed, the plane is too heavy.

Allow me to suggest "Square" (I really like this service and use it for my small home business transactions) or try PayPal with their new app.  It appears to be similar to Square.  I've downloaded it but haven't used it as yet; I need to get their card reader or verify that the one I have for Square transactions will work on their platform.

Square might work.  I hardly use a cell phone though.
PayPal so far is excellent, although I haven't had to handle a void transaction get.  But their rules and are very clear and much cheaper than credit cards.  As a plus, the way they handle charges, the only non-tax deductible charge is their 30 cent transaction fee.  The credit percentage fee which is only 2.6% and deducts from taxes.

The bank was charging nearly $30 a month in non-deductable fees plus a 5% of transactions.  I suppose large companies get a much better deal, but they obviously don't want small accounts these days.
