Rebel Rally - Nov. 11 & 12th - Starke, FL General Combat Info
« on: December 28, 2006, 08:12:50 AM »
Very late report on Combat. Procrastination is one of my character flaws as this should have been done a month ago.

If you missed this contest try to make the "Florida F2D Flying Frenzy" contest they will be hosting April 14th & 15th at the Herlong Airport in Jacksonville, FL. The 06 spring contest there was well run and the club supported the event with a lunch from their charcoal grill.

Hope everyone had a good Christmas.

Speed Limit - 1/2a - Fast
For all of you who missed this contest for whatever reason. You missed a GOOD one.The site was excellent and the weather was great,. Just a bit cool in the early morning but warmed up by mid morning. The site was at the Bradford County Fairgrounds in Starke, FL and there was room for a practice circle and the main circle with additional room for another circle which was used by some of the stunt flyer's. Well run contest.

A local Boy Scout troop #70 provided food and drinks both days.

Mike Schmieder and his son Mike judged all three events over the two days and did an excellent job for a thankless task.

Judy Curtis ran the matching selection and kept up the result board. This allowed the majority of pilots to fly with no other distractions.
A BIG "THANK YOU" to them for there efforts.

Between the three events there were 58 matches with 1 or 2 rematches due to not being able to see if a knot was attached. This could be a reason to try attaching a tab (1in by 1in) to the streamer. At least for speed limit. Only 1 flyaway occurred. i think it was a handle/Connection failure as the result of a hard line crossing on a relaunch. Model landed with no contact with anything but the ground. Ground 1 Airplane 0.

The George and Stubby show arrived in full force and left little for the rest of us. Three firsts, two seconds and one third for a very impressive showing. This was a money meet but it did not effect the willingness of all the competitors the help each other with pitting or loaning equipment when needed.  Eleven fliers showed up from New York, Texas, Louisiana, South Carolina, Ohio, Tennessee and Florida.
