Last year at the Nats we used a 1x4 hinged stick to check our pull for all of the different classes. Does anyone have the design parameter for that thing? It worked great, and allowed you to easily check your control system by your self. With the high pull test of the .15 fast models, I want to be able to verify I am good. Thanks in advance for any info.

Those big orange ones we use at the nats were made by Bobby Mears. Hinged two-by-fours with removeable doorknob weights so they can be used for f2d and ama fast/slow/speedlimit. I would send you a picture but they are in the Nats trailer in Muncie...

Thanks Dave, I will bug Bobby about it. Let everyone get back to normal after that March Madness thing. That looked like it was some kind of instant classic!

I'll try to get you a pic. There's not much to it and it works great. I copied what the Phoenix guys use, but made the leverages a bit milder. Phoenix this weekend everybody bitched about the puller. But I would be if you put a scale on it, it was working correctly. 44 lb is just a lot of pull on a combat plane.

Thanks Bob. I liked the one at the Nats just fine. Perfect for us lonely combat guys. If it were not for do it yourself items like this, it would be impossible to be involved.

first one I saw was in the 80's by Howard Rush......about the same time as the electro-honker.

Here's my line puller. Simple door hinge, gate hinge, and trailer hitch balls all mounted to 2x4's. Build the hinge setup then move the balls out to the point to desired weight. I have two balls for F2D. I remove one for AMA events. I forget which one now. I havent removed it since I started flying F2D. bur a scale will tell ya pretty quick. Drill a couple of holes for stakes and your done.

That's the beast! Thanks Bob.

Hey Bob, could you give me a length dimension from the hinge to your first (or second) ball hitch? That will get me there a bit faster. Thanks so much

Here ya go.
