OS 25 Wrist pins
« on: February 04, 2017, 02:01:47 PM »
Some good news for those using OS 25's.  Tower Hobbies has a new supply of wrist pins.  Part #LXCS81 has the white endpads and fits the LA, FX, SFABC motors.  The end pads tend to wear out on one end and need to be repaired or replaced before they start scraping the cylinder.  They're fairly inexpensive at $6.29 a piece.  You can save 25-30 cents by buying more than one.

New end pads are a good bit tricky to make because they are so small.

That's spot on. I've had to replace several wrist pins on my LA25s. It seems you can almost hear the pads wear out because the motor starts making a mild chattering sound when it is loaded up in turns, sort of like pre-ignition. As I recall the aft pad wears more quickly than the front. If it is not changed a scoring mark quickly appears inside the liner across from the pin. Just my $.02-
