Title: Nemesis II airfoil
Post by: Mike Greb on June 07, 2020, 06:20:55 PM
Does anybody know what the Nemesis II airfoil?  I have been trying to generate it with a naca generator but just can't get it right.

Howard probably knows  ;)

Try 00 series, 16.5% thickness and move the high point from 30% to 25%
I did that with compufoil, and it looks extremely close when I put it on top of the plan airfoil from the pdf

A bit different between the LE and the high point, but probably within sanding error.

(I don't have the dxf generator option of Compufoil, so this was from a dat file and lacked LE points)

Actually, I believe it was from the Eppler family but not sure which series. Howard will probably chime in

I have two Nemesis II by Pat Johnston laser cut short kits and a set of plans from Howard Rush if interested...I can never build them

That’s it.

Howard told me it was naca 0016.5 with the high point moved forward to 25%.  I tried to copy it from an old m+p plan into compufoil,  but the back 3/4 looks not quite as thick as on the Nemesis II final.pdf that Howard sent me.

On a side note, I am trying to cut and print  portions of that plan in inscape but it does not seem to print out.   Maybe the lines too thin?  I have been able to print out portions of other plans that have been scanned from inked drawings just fine.

If you have compufoil, here is the template file for the one I did.
(delete the .doc extension, it was added to allow it to be uploaded here)
