Title: Nelson vs. G.21 Supertigre
Post by: Howard Rush on June 21, 2010, 03:45:29 PM
I just compared weight and fore-aft CG for the two.  The Nelson weighed 238 grams, the Supertigre 243.  Weights are approximate because configurations vary: my Nelson has a black intake doodad, for example.  The Nelson sticks out farther behind the CG, which will make mounting it on an old airplane interesting.

I like where this is going.

In my experience, when I upgraded from a ST G21/35 to a Fox Mark III, the plane went about 15 MPH faster and lived out its normal life.

When I upgraded from a Fox Mark VI to a Nelson, it went about 20 MPH faster and self-destructed in about 80 seconds.

Two questions:  Will there be a video camera present to record your first flight, and will you be wearing your clown suit?

If you can get ahold of one, the mag case version is a lot lighter- about 210 grams, with the plastic intake.

Don't chuck the plastic intake.  It cuts fuel consumption(keeps drops from spraying back out) and seems to increase horsepower a bit by smoothing the airflow into the engine.

Which magazine was the first publisher of the Nemesis plans, and are they still available?

American Modeler, about 1972.  Maybe it was American Aircraft Modeler then.  I'll send you some plans if I have an extra set.  I just cut up the one set I know I had.  Email me your postal address.

Hey Howard, do you want me to make a CAD version of the Nemesis II plans like I did for the Bosta?  I also have an unopened M&P kit from which I should be able to make copies if needed.
