Nelson .36's
« on: February 24, 2014, 02:48:43 PM »
There is a post on Yahoo groups combat page that Henry is considering making a run of 50 new .36 engines. It says to email Jeff Rein if you want one. Check the post for all the info.

Guys, please go to Yahoo groups Combat page for all the info. Henry is not taking orders. He will make a run of 50 if there is a commitment for 50. As I stated in the first post if you want one E-mail Jeff Rein. Jeff Rein is the organizer of this and is handling that end of it. He is the guy to talk to. His contact info and everything you want to know is on the yahoo page.   Mike

As of this morning there were 23~25 "reserved"

Jeffery Reins is directly coordinating with Henry Nelson who requires a firm commitment for a run of 50 ( and we assume spares from most of the internals.) From what I gather the 50 is minimum Henry has to get to have the cases made from his supplier.

I doubt this will ever be done again so if you know someone who may want one or more please contact Jeff so we can get these into production one last time

Watching and pitting at the Bladder Grabber last year is what got me off my butt to get back into CL and combat. And for what it is worth there were probably three or four other local young men that also got the bug. I know 3 or 4 is not a great deal of potential new participants but it is a lot better than zero.

Last year Jeff said "this competition dies when we do" and as a new comer at only 58 I would hope not

This thread is about buying new Henry Nelson .36 combat engines. We can discuss the death of High Performance fast combat or the high cost elsewhere

Can the price be disclosed without joining the Yahoo forum?   I'm in enough forums already.

OK, only $350.  I'm, surprised they're so reasonable.

I ordered two and spare parts... 31 July and not delivered yet

Last I heard early this July was that Henry ended up with a order for 94 new engines and would be shipping throughout July

The Bladder Grabber in Snohomish WA this Aug is giving some away as prizes.  I assume that the club sponsoring the event bought several and was first on the list for shipping

Wish you could be at the Grabber this year.  I'll be there this year to pit.

I received my new Nelson about a month ago. Reading the article Henry wrote regarding fuel......He recommends using 20% UCON-LB625 oil for lubrication. After jumping through hoops with Dow chemical I was recommended a company where I could purchase some. I spoke with a gentleman yesterday on the phone.........He recommended I purchase a 5 gallon pail, $811.00   :o :o~^ ~^. Sample gallon if I can get authorization $162.11....... Does anyone have alternative options/source or possible chip in and buy a 55 gallon drum. He did mention a savings buying the drum but I was busy with the defibrilator trying to start my heart back up. I can call if there is an interest.

Thanks,
Tom

You should call Ritch at Ritch's Brew.  Maybe he already has the oil you want.  If not, he's big enough to front a 55 gallon drum and offer a specific "Nelson 36" brew.  It would be something on the order of Product Number 41 on his menu.

Look into KLOTZ techniplate synthetic.  It comes with either pure synthetic or with a 20% blend of castor.  I don't know if it's the UCON oil.

Riches brew is what I use. I spec 10% nitro and 20% oil with 95% of that UCON-LB625 and 5% castor. I also order same mix with 15% nitro..... Have experimented all the way to 45% nitro in the N36c but not really worth the expense for a very few extra RPM

Riches brew is reasonably priced and he also will sell the UCON-LB625 by qt or gallon
