Sneeker CG question
« on: March 17, 2018, 01:24:48 PM »
I am almost finished building my Sneeker and have a question on the center of gravity location. It is not covered yet but with engine installed the CG is is 1 3/8” from the LE. The CG location is 1 7/8” from the LE. Is this acceptable or should I add weight to rear to get it closer? Thanks, Tim

I would leave it nose heavy. At first . Combat planes tend to become more sensitive the slower they fly .

If the first flight is wings flat and real sluggish to control add tail weight until you are comfortable. The faster you go the more tail weight you need. A combat plane that grooves at 110 will be tail heavy at 75 .

Tim,
Keep in mind that 70% of your covering and finish is aft of the CG. Your cg is going to move back after you cover it.
Good Luck!

Thanks for the replies! I did forget about the weight of the paint/covering. Tim
