Title: Lou Scavone wins the CanAm Trophy for F2D.
Post by: Paul Smith on September 29, 2008, 06:20:42 AM
Lou Scavone of Sterling Heights, Michigan, United States of America has won the 2008 Can Am Trophy for FAI Combat (F2D).

The CanAm Series for 2008 consisted of grueling series of seven contests, all of which conducted by true F2D rules, two airplanes per flyer per match, and full double elimination.  The schedule varies somewhat each year due to local organizers and conflicts with team trials and world championships.

All the venues are near The Great Lakes, which form our north/south frontier.  This year included contests in Buffalo, Dresden, Chicago, two in Detroit, and two in Toronto.

Lou came into the Toronto finale with a slim lead.  He ended up in a tie for 3rd place.  Ivan MacKenzie could have edged him out with a win, but fell short win with a second place (photo) finish.

That's the 2007 champion, Pat MacKenzie handing over the trophy to Lou.
