Howard;
I'm still trying to get someone to let me know about a campsite with hookups near the flying field/ event.  We currently have one reserved near the speedway.  Brother from Delaware is coming also.  Thanks

Good luck with camping. Last spring I found no joy. We stayed at the Statesville KOA and the commute was no fun. There was a three day concert event at the speedway so all of those parking lots were full.
Let me know if you find something. Camping near Huntersville is slim pickings.

Talked with the chamber of commerce for both Huntersville $ Lake Norman.
There are NO RV parks in the immediate area. Statesville is a BAD choice as the I75 Traffic can back up at any time.
Found two places on goggle which seemed to have decent review's.

Elmore RV Park (18 -23 min.)
Address: 4826 N Tryon St,
Charlotte, NC 28213
Phone: (704) 597-1323

Apollo RV Park  (15 - 18 Min.)
Address: 4275 Morehead Rd,
Concord, NC 28027
Phone: (704) 455-2409

Hope this helps.
