Has anyone built this from Barry Baxter plans? If so, is there commercially available l/e stock available or does it need to be carved? What would be a good engine for this airplane?
thanks,
Ken

They were about right with a Fox 15X. An LA or FP10 should about match that for both weight and power.

I agree, and I *think* the FP 10 will give a touch more power than the regular 15X. Just depends I guess, but I like the idea of the 15X on the Jr. Satan! (I built one for a buddy of mine back in the '60s!)

The Jr. Satan I had went like stink with a Cox Mark I !!

I agree with Ralph. I used a cox mark on mine and it was fun. Of course I was a teenager and had no trouble keeping up with it. The Fox 15X will do all right on it, so will the OS15FP. I know that the OS 10 will fly it but somehow I can't see me putting it on an trying to say it's even a sport combat job. I guess I'd have to then say I'm getting old.

I still have a Goldberg kit.

Dennis;
Number one never use the word "OLD" it's I am getting older, sounds better. LOL As far as what engine, I would go with the Fox .15X but then I am partial to Fox. If you want to kick it up a notch I can let you borrow a Fox .15XX then you will find out what older is LOL.
Look at the Combat Video Bob posted here it's a killer.

I had a very successful Junior Satan with an OS Max II .15.
However, in general, the design is much too small for most 15's and would better be powered by a modern .049.
A full size Voodoo (nomimal 35-size) flys well with a descent (but not high-tech) 15.

Hi Paul,
I agree, the modern engines in a lot of cases, are so much stronger than the old ones that we can fly planes on much smaller engines now.
An OS 10FP is a good bit stronger than the old Fox 15X!

If you're interested, I have the original plans for Henry Nelson's (ya know who HE is) "Venom". Desiogned back in the late '60s, but large for the time. Flew very well on a Cox Mark I or a ST G20.15

About the LE stock, Sig still makes it and you can buy single sticks from Virginia Hobbysport. Sig sells it by the bundle.

I had one with the Fox 15X on it. Baby pacifier pressure and .012 x 52 lines. It was a blast and flew well with that combination.

True, I never scrolled this far down before. I also missed the original events of '62-66 I plan to describe, but the story has been retold a great deal so it almost seems like I'd been there. A half dozen Jr. Satans, all with 19s - a couple of Torps, a Veco, and the rest Red Head McCoys, three wacked out CL modellers, and time to play is the setup. One of the three is moderately experienced in combat, two others are not.
With a couple of helpers, they kept at least two Satans in the air for a half hour at a time, with a couple of repeats in a day, on several occasions, keeping no count of cuts, kills or air time, just refueling, replacing props, and relaunching as soon as only one plane is still in the air. They claimed later that no total loss collisions or crashes occurred, although gradually accumulated small damage accidents always reduced the flyable number to just one (no Hot Stuff and filler for fast repairs yet).
