Gil's Meet 2017 Hershey, PA

The weather forecast was poor, several regulars couldn't make it, we were short handed, but everything turned out pretty well. The weather cooperated, the very light drizzle stopped.  The breeze didn't pick up as predicted, although there were few gusts. The sun didn't come out and it stayed cool  Nine flyers showed up, rusty after a long winter and a wet spring, and put up some excellent matches.

Out of deference to the others they didn't do so good, as the saying goes.

There was a nice mix of equipment- mostly LA and FP 25's.  Several used Brian Gardner piston/liner sets which really run great.  Henry ran a 15, Nelson of course.  Planes were about half and half built up or foam.  Phil Cartier showed off a 9oz. foam airframe- about 2 oz. lighter than normal. Still needs some trimming for pointability but it can turn extremely tight.

The flying got much better after the first two   rounds.  There were no midairs and 16 cuts and good air time scores in the last two rounds.

Many thanks to everyone, especially Keith Marks who came just to help.  All the flyers cooperated really well with pitting, scoring, and judging when needed.
