there is nothing shown on the magazine plans for the CG.  but the 1/2A shows the CG slightly ahead on the spar.

Where is Howard when you need him.  If I remember correctly at the NATS when he won his first Open Combat Trophy I bought a set of plans from him.  I do not remember the individuals name, but, he asked Howard where it balanced.  He handed him the winning plane and told him to check it.  It was sitting on the guys fingers nose down resting on the leading edge.  The one I built was the same way when checking for balance.  It was one of the best flying planes I ever had for combat.  Best bet is fly it and adjust the CG to how you fly.  Have fun,  DOC Holliday

I must have the same article then, it only shows the 1/2A one.

My Nemesis is balancing right at the spar at the moment.

I don't think mine was ever balanced anywhere near the leading edge, all i remember is its close to the spar (with ST G21.35). It flew great.. and very responsive.  My first flight with it after 30+ yrs was a blast!  It sure sharpened my reflex in an instant.   ;)

The spar is at 25% of chord.  Balance it just ahead of the spar, no more than 1/4 in.  It should fly fine.

^ Thanks for the info.

I should of checked the CG for reference when it flew great.   The crash was cause by a wimpy pushrod that flexed in down position.  when i did a high speed dive towards the ground and suppose to snap out in a 90 degree outside turn.  it didn't respond!  and went round. scraped the ground  hard (on asphalt, as half of the flying circle was asphalt unfortunately),  cracked the plankings, stabilizer, scraped the engine, broke prop, needle valve etc..  i think the repairs made it a bit tail heavy by the looks of it.

I remember putting the CG at the front of the 1/4"-square spar.

Joe, it responded- the ground was just quicker :)  Howard should see it now, it looks better than when you first brought it out to the field.
Did you get the e-mail about the pup-fighter questions? My comp went down and some people said they weren't getting anything from me. I hate these things some days. :X
 Later,
 Ron

I was surprised i didn't catch that problem 30 yrs ago..  and the very first flight flew so damn well, feels like it could do anything..  so i pushed it more on the second.   aiming for a 4.5-5' pull out from a dive, and it failed.  ohwell.

Yes, i got it. thanks

BTW: I put in the first flight with the new Flite Streak last Monday, and it flew o.k.  It needs to be trimed for sure though.
