Title: Bellcrank movement
Post by: Casey on September 06, 2020, 10:12:39 PM
What is the effective movement range in degrees for a 2 inch bellcrank in a Nostalgic combat model?

I have never used a 2 inch bell crank in the old combat planes.  In that period of time it was the Veco 3 inch.  Also used what area the space between ribs allowed.   The control horn is where I adjusted for elevator deflexion. D>K

I would stay with a 45 degree max each way.

That's a good number for ANY crank arm mechanism.  Beyond 45 degrees each way, 90 degrees total, the actual output is minimal.

+/- 45° is about right.  I used that on quite a few  Fast combat planes 1992-2002.  Pushrod in the inner hole.  The balance point was far enough back to make it responsive.  It allowed me to put the bellcrank on the boom and still clear a bladder tube behind the spars, pretty much on the CG.
It worked quite well.
