Bob,   I have had a lot of Stanzel twist units pass thru my hands, but never heard of a special long stunt unit  (?)

I tried one of those back in the '60's.  I concluded that if God wanted us to have a single line he wouldn't have given us two.

I WOULD THINK YOU WOULD NEED A QUICKER AND MORE TRAVEL UNIT IN THE PLANE,THE ONES WE USED ON SPEED LANES DIDNT NEED MUCH TRAVEL

I saw Dale Kirn's son fly a monoline demonstration at a VSC.  It was a "recognizable" pattern.

I remember "back in the day" that Stanzel offered a cash reward if someone would win the Nats with monoline controls.  I believe the offer was $1,000.  Maybe it was $2,000.  I think it was Bill Werwage who worked with the monoline approach for a while.  I do not know how much effort he put into it, but from all accounts, Bill determined that the reward would remain safe in the Stanzel bank.

Yes, the award was $1,000.00.  And there were Stanzel control units (aircraft end) for stunt flying, there was a 1/2 A size, and a "ABC" size.  They gave lots more control than the speed units.  Chris Sackett from Canada has done quite a bit of stunt flying monoline style using these.
