I have been spending some time going through my stuff, sorting things and doing little projects like assembling some engine projects. I find myself in need of a few items;
1) I need a rear back plate for a ST. G.51. I have enough parts to put an engine core back together in stock configuration but I am missing a back plate.
2) I have a Brian Gardner ABC P&L set for the LA.46. I'm trying to decide if I should just hang on to it for possible need later, or find a engine core to put it in. I would need at a minimum an usable engine case. If it has broken mounting lugs or other slight damage I can fix that. I think I have everything else that I would need by robbing some LA.40 cores I have. There is a swap meet coming up and home to find something there.
Thanks a lot,

Hi Dan. I assume you know that the LA .40 and .46 have some interchangable parts, except for the head, liner, piston. I know because I tried.. Even honed out the block to fit the .46 liner, only to find the heads are totally different. Same crank and con rod and back plate though.
Hi Ty;
Yes, I am aware of that. Brian Gardner sells his LA.46 P&L sets with a new head, so that he doesn't have to machine the lip at the top of the liner as thin as they do at the factory. He makes a new head to compensate for that. So, all that is sometimes required is a crank case, and all the other parts from an FP or LA .40 will fill in the gaps. I built up five LA.46's this way a few years ago for my son and I. I got the cases and some parts from that R/C Japan site. Prices were great, but shipping was steep then. Not really worth it for one case these days. I'm hoping some one has a worn out LA.46, or one with some sort of damage that I can fix. I have also been thinking that I maybe ought to hold into the P&L kit if I wear one of my other ones out myself !! Thanks for the info , though.
Type at you later,

Hi Dan, there were 2 versions of the ST51. I have a backplate for the later version if that's the one you need.

Those liners will drop in a SF or clone ( Royal 46 ) seeing SFs are well spoken off , mightnt be a bad idea .
A worn out LA might be loose at the shaft , tho the liners normally go first on junk fuel . Way before .
