Fox .35 Anniversary case needed
« on: December 30, 2022, 09:28:37 AM »
Hi All,
I am looking to refurbish a Fox 35 40th Anniversary engine with a mangled case.  This was on a Craigslist find that the plane fell from the rafters straight down and blew apart the case. The plane is in remarkable shape (Smoothie)
The internals of the engine look and measure out in great condition and even though I got several Fox 35's from the Hoyt Hawkins estate, I hate to trash an otherwise decent engine. I might be able to trade an FP 40, MAX-S 35, 19, McCoy 35, 40... let me know what you have and what you want for it. Thanks!
Edit: Of course a 50th & 60th case would work too!

I do have a new case that dates from around 1968 - it has the divider in the exhaust port. If I were you, I'd hold out for a 50th-60th case that has a decent muffler mount. I have run into a problem where the cranks don't interchange either. I don't remember the details but some shafts were just a hair bigger in diameter and wouldn't go into a case.

Thanks Steve,
I agree with holding out for a 50/60 case. It's a bit low priority so I am in no hurry, I have other Fox 35's including a few that Larry Foster worked on, safe to say at least one or two are fully modified L&J works of mechanical art. In the meantime,  I will put an engine on the Smoothie and send it!
