Title: Playboy build pics 1
Post by: Clint Ormosen on June 01, 2008, 01:44:43 AM
Got enough done to shoot a couple of pics. The laser locked rib system works pretty slick. Now I have to turn the plane over and do the other side.

What's the matter Jim? Do you have one of these kits just sitting there waiting on you?

No------not yet!  That's the problem---you're gonna make me spend some more $$$.

I do have the Connie, though.

Cheers,
Jim

Go ahead and spend the money, Jim. This kit is worth it!

Looks good, Clint. I bet that system just falls together.

Check out Roger Barrett's beautiful Playboy...hummmm? Perhaps if he'd have had some of these new finishing products that are available in those early daze days...That Playboy might have survived to fly a nutder-day? OUCH! :!

Can't slow down. I'm in the zone. Plus, I have too many kits waiting on me.

The slowdown will come when it's time for paint anyway.

So you're going to show the old DOC up.  Just wait until I get done with present kit.  Still need to get the P-39 trimmed out with some lead in the tail.  Anyway keep us posted as my kit is on the shelf along with several others and some woodworking stuff to go.  Have fun,  DOC Holliday

Hi Clint:

I'm probably getting myself in trouble for asking this but...who makes the kit you are building? I should know this but don't.

Mike,

I'm not Clint---he must have fallen asleep!! ;D

Anyway, the Playboy is by our own Bill Sawyer aka Windancer Models.  See the vendor section.

Cheers,
 Jim

Yes, Windancer Models. Really nice kit.

Tonight I built the flaps, stab, and elevators. The stab is laminated sheet and the flaps and elevators are built up. I have not done any shaping to them yet so they look pretty square right now. The hinge slots have been cut.

I worked out a deal with Bill to get most of a kit through *seconds parts* that he felt were not good enough to sell.  Plenty good enough for me! LOL!!  A LOT of the work is already done (laser ribs) and some other parts that would have taken the time of cutting, etc..  And the wood is all pretty good!  So the *very odd* is going to happen.......... I am going to be building a kit!  The Playboy DOES fly very good.

What is going to be the power, Clint?

Bill, power will come from an OS FP 40 modified by Randy Smith. I had Randy do several of these just recently. Although it's no Aero Tiger, it should have plenty of poop for this model.
