Title: Midwest Magician

I am back to scratch building my Magician. I have not made up my mind weather or not to install flaps. So......I made up pushrods for both versions! How much elevator throw is needed with or with out flaps or is it the same? Starting on the wing this week, so I still have some time to figure things out. n~

I have built 4 Magicians, all with moveable flaps. I have never built one with fixed flaps so I can't really tell you anything about that one. On my flapped ones, I use 1 to 1 ratio flap to elevator. On mine, about 20 degrees has been plenty on the elevator. I do move the balance point back to about 3/4" ahead of the spar because of the flaps. If you build the fixed flapped version, I would move the balance point forward to what the plans show. It should fly well either way.

Thanks Richard; I was looking at your picture of yours, and I was amazed as it looked exactly like mine at that stage. Cloth hinges and all. It is a neat plane and you are doing a superb job. Makes me want to go build another.
