Jack's LaDonna & Anderson Greenwood 51
« on: November 15, 2007, 10:14:05 PM »
One of the things I have always liked about Jack Sheeks' designs is that they all look like airplanes.  Recently I was looking at some pix a friend of mine took at Oshkosh las sunner and came across the Anderson Greenwood displayed their, one of one 5 in existnce.

Anybody else see the resemblance?

Dennis,

I cannot remember when Jack did this one. I bet that under the old 40 point scale, he probably got high marks for originality and got dinged for realism.  n~ n~

We used to say there is a prototype for everything. You helped prove that point. I wonder if anyone ever took scale documentation with them through the stunt processing line.  :##

The LaDonna is a pretty design, IMHO!  I like it best of all the twin boom stunters

Denny,

I saw something, possibly in Tommy Niebuhr's stuff about the Sheek's Stunter thing for next VSC, listing Jack's published designs that were Classic eligible. I seem to recall that LaDonna was his first published FM, I-Beamer design.

Comments, anyone?

NO? Then,

Tennis, anyone? (You gotta be old to recall that as a guaranteed laugh-line in some early TV comedies...)

Lou,

It looks like there was at least one Sheeks I-beamer before "La Donna"

Here is the list of "Classic" Stunters that I have on another thread:

Some of these plans are still available from Flying models, and Frank Fanelli has been gratious enough to announce the Sheeks award in the current FM (December 2007, page 10) with a list of the plans that they still have for sale, starting with the "Shiek" 6/65.

Others on my list are available from AMA, or private sources. Again, if anyone knows of more, we would like to know about them.

TY,
There were approx 43 Sheeks designs in FM alone. The Classic era was just the start.

Tom. All during the 60s, my Buddies and I had discussions all month on what Jacks next plane  in Flying Models would look like. But we knew it would probably be a Beamer.   ;) y1       Gary T.
