Gordan Delaney's "Too Much". I took this photo in 1971
-
Yes.
Gordy flew it in the sixties. I witnessed it at the Southwest Regionals in '68.

The original was designed by Mark Fechner in 1959 and he built it in 1961 . We Test flew it in March of 62. The one I flew was changed with 1and1/2 in. longer tail moment,and the nose moment was shortend too 9and1/2 in. The fuse. was narrowed and the cockpit was moved two inches forward. It also had retracts in it and a total weight of 86oz. This version was built in 1966.

Bill,
The nose moment was 9.5 in. When I built mine I had a Plan error on the top view of the wing. My son kept drawing on them while I was at work. I kept asking my wife to please keep the boys out of the hobby room for just two days. After third try I didn`t realize I had narrowed the cord by 1/2 inch. Several years went by and Mark Fechner and I was talking about the wing area. I told him he was wrong it only had 960. He said yours might be but mine isn`t. And sure enough his was 1059 sq.inches. When I dug out my plans I saw where I had gone wrong.Just a little histroy here.

Gordon;
I love history. Which plans do I have. yours or Marks'? Interesting how the plot thickens.
Bill Gruby

Bill,
If you got them from Tom Dixon they are my plans. I thought he was going to do them over. but didn`t for some reason. If the plans shows part of a wing tip torn off it is mine for sure.
-
Gordon;
Hope this gets through my computor is going haywire, I have to refresh the page every 5 min. or so.
It's been quite a while, but I think these plans came from Don Gleason, I could be wrong. They show the full wing on one sheet. Each part aka Fuselage, stab, nacelles etc. are on their own sheet plus a spec. sheet.

Ty,
Yes, the one that you saw had two Foxes in it. One 35 and one 29. But later years the rules change and I put a 35 in the outboard replacing the 29.

Hey Gordo!!!
Is that the same Tooo Much that you had a VSC way back when? I remember the flight when the ?butterfly or something got caught in the venturi.... I think Bart flew it once also.
Awesome j1
Jim

Yes Jim, This is the same one that Bart and I flew. Bart was leading the pack after first round. With no app. points. The second flight the inboard sucked in Butterfly. He still ended up in fifth place. Man the guy can fly.

This plane is so amazingly cool!
I wish there was a 1/2A version of it! Has anyone tried to make a similar model (but much smaller) for us small plane addicts?

There's a neat 1/2A twin design from one of the last issues of MAN that contained CL articles. I have a copy at home, so I can check the date if needed later. It's called Blackhawk, inspired by the comic strip of the same name from back in the day. A neat looking and flying design.

I saw Gordon D. and Bart K. fly the plane at VSC (III I think)
I was very impressed with the way it flew #^
-
I saw Gordan fly his twin at a NW Regionals where Paul Walker flew his first B-17. I think Paul won and Gordan was second. I got the impression that the more engines a stunter has, the better it flies.
-
Howard,
The one that I flew up there then was the Twin Gemini,a more modern design. The Too Much that I flew was back in the seventies at the NW regionals.I built it in 1966 and started flying it in 1967.
Gordy
PS. Howard if two or more engines make planes fly better, then why aren`t you using two .15teens on your fast combat planes? HA! #^ S?P LL~s

Hi John; If you can do it easily, send me the date of that article. I should have the magazine, probably around 1984?
Thanks a lot,
